i wasnt actually serious. Although stanced cars arent my favorite, i certainly dont hate/dislike them. Many pictured here are done quite tastefully. I was merely trying to imitate the typical response from the average Jalopnik user, which hates "stance", and that scoffs at anything that doesnt resemble a diesel miata wagon.

Is that a Hillman Imp in the 19th picture?

Cooper S - Great wheels, but useless to drive. Doesn't actually look that bad, but it'd actually look good with another inch of suspension height

Amazon - Stretched tires and stupid camber are both stupid looking, dangerous, and make things awful to drive

Saturn - No problem with that; you can do anything when you start with a POS. Wheels would actually really enhance the look of that car if it didn't look like the car had been designed on Battlegrounds.com's Car Customizer game from 2004

A4 - Gaudy, stretched tires (dumb, dangerous, not attractive), worthless to drive

Scion - Who cares?

Jeep - Not sure how to comment

GTI - probably the best car here. A touch low for my personal taste, but not moronically low.

Kia - Wheels are kind of interesting, but the backspacing ruins it.

Civic - Wouldn't be awful but for the hilarious multi-colored anodized lugnuts

Benz - Meh. Again, waste of a solid riding car, but may be tolerable on airbags

E36 - Dumb and ugly

A8 - Once classy, now trashy

UP! - ?

RSX - At least it has sidewall, probably not too bad

I'm sorry, is that a Hillman Imp? And the front camber is worse than the rear? Silly, but not offensive

Saab - looks cool from this shot, likely looks much dumber from any other

Golfs - have sidewall, so OK

Civic - meh

Yellow Civic - the epitome of dumb

CTS Wagon - hope that's not a V; if it is, its awful aesthetics are outdone only by how much the car's nature has been ruined

People don't like to raise the point, but there is such a thing as objectively good design; that doesn't mean everyone will like it, that doesn't mean that it's interesting or even artistically meaningful, but there is a such thing as good design. Stancing, in most of its forms, is heapings of bad design combined with compromises in performance and safety, all to elicit a "dude bro sick!" response. Not sure there is a combination of intents that bothers me as much that; they all clash supremely with almost every ideology I hold on design, purpose, and meaning.

I was not expecting such a well written response (judging from your previous post..)

but thank you for answering me like this.

I do have some points though,

1. Have you considered that the cars are not always this low and on these tires? they maybe only for the photoshoot. Most the cars you see here are standing still. Maybe when they drive they go higher. (airbags? hydraulics?)

2. Stance is supposed to 'shock' people. just like Hot rods , Rat rods, those things.

1. Bags are certainly a much better alternative to the geinuses cutting coils or throwing cars are $10 coilovers; at that point it's just a matter of taste for me, and I'm perfectly fine just having a difference of opinion there.

2. Yeah, I just don't jive with using a car for shock value at all, because it's all about other people and how other people look at you and your car; maybe I'm waxing philosophical here, but it seems quite petty and hollow to me. I even like my hot rods clean, well thought out, and intentionally crafted with a concern for what is good design; the rat rod or chromed out street rod aesthetic never appealed to me and bothers me just as much as stancing does.

A matter of opinion/taste. I agree.
